Baby glasses

I want to use the blog to help me remember my little baby boys. Last week, Eric and I got some news that I wish I could forget.

We took Gil to the eye doctor: his tear ducts were still clogged and our pediatrician recommended a referral. The eye doctor saw Gil, concluded that his tear ducts were fine, and then did a well baby eye screen. Gil, like his mother was, is crazy far sighted.

You know what that means? Baby glasses, if it doesn't correct. So we will check back in in 6 months, and if there is no change, Harry Potter here we Coe.

Gil at 8 months

Where in the world is the time going?

At eight months, Gil is:

-still smaller than his brother at the same age. About 3 or 4 pounds lighter,
-wearing a size 4 diaper,
-wearing mostly 18 months clothes, although some 12 months still fit,
-taking two solid naps a day,
-still so sweet and easy going,
-is army crawling all over the place,
-sits totally independently,
-loves playing games,
-has the best baby belly laugh.

Gil, we are so lucky to have you. We love you!

Mom v. Dad

It's not the way you would think.  Definitely not Alison v. Eric, but in about the past ten days, we are finding that if Vake doesn't get the answer that he wants from one of us, he'll go and ask the other parent.

It is always something, isn't it?  Vake's such a sweet child, and an easy child.  And he's finally starting to become an little boy, someone who has opinions and who can carry on a conversation.  It's pretty wonderful.  While I LOVE my babies, I am starting to remember why I used to prefer babysitting for bigger children rather than babies.

But with that comes a whole new host of challenges.  The discipline isn't getting easier.  It is impossible to believe that he's three and a half already.

AquaTot

Vake just finished up his first two weeks of "swim school."  It went great- he took the test today and passed all the skills for level 3 and most for level 4.  The trick is that we are getting to the end of swim season here.  Now Eric and I have to decide if we want little Michael Phelps to keep swimming into the fall.

Life is good here- a little busy- but good.  I have another big trial coming up on September 11.  It's going to be just fine but it is sure keeping me hopping.

Our new member of the four tooth club is loving more and more solid foods.  Pasta, cheese, yogurt and fruits are fan favorites now- he is SO big already!

Home again, again...

So we are finally back home again- two weekends back to back at the beach and I've still got mounds of laundry to do.  Hard to believe it is basically already the middle of August.

Whew...what new to report?  Well, Vake is doing great in swim class- the teacher has the students swimming between her and the wall.  Vake is totally fearless and loving it- no water wings, even.  He's been at camp at the Children's Museum this week and seems to be as happy as a clam.  My sweet little boy isn't so little anymore- he's grown about another half-inch in six months.

Gillie is great- so mellow.  It's funny.  Vake looks just like Eric to me but has my personality.  Gil looks like me but is just so laid back like his father.

I am happy to report that I am really running on a good schedule again!  Yippee!!!!

Two more teeth

How is it possible that it is the middle of the month already? Poor neglected blog!

I need to post more pictures, but the important takeaway for today is that Gil Martin now belongs to the four tooth club!
