Baby Gil at four months

Baby Gil is four months old!

Seems impossible to believe that four months ago, we were wrapping up the scariest day ever.

Baby Gil is just delightful. Truly.

At four months, Gil is
- shorter and lighter than Vake. Gil is 17 pounds and 26.5 inches. His brother was 20 pounds and 27 inches.
- wearing a size three diaper and mostly 9-12 month clothes.
- incredibly sweet and smiley.
- has a most excellent belly laugh.
- can roll over back to front both sides, but cannot roll front to back yet.
- takes two good naps and usually sleeps through the night.
- seems to recognize his mama.
- still does not love the bottle. It is always hit or miss.

We love you, sweet little brother.

Baby swing

He's a little young to be really swinging, but he seems to like sitting in the swinging chair. We gave it a try Friday to decent results. This is such a sweet, easy, patient baby.

Look at that face.

I have so many posts in need to do. I promise I am on it!

Cowboy Pajamas

Talk about making time fly.  Gil is now into some of the things that were my favorites for Vake, like these Cowboy pajamas.  To me, these boys look so much alike but then I think they look less alike in these pictures.  I think that Vake still looks exactly like his father, but Gil less so, which is a little odd, right?

We had such a busy weekend!  It was my 20th high school reunion, we had a visit from Murray and our house is on Historic Garden Week.  Just have to power through.  Bummer that it rained all day today- I thought we were going to get a lot more done than we did!

Beautiful Brothers

Tell me that you can get luckier than this.

Murray

I think most of you know by now that Andrea and I cooked up this scheme last year to get a pony for our children to share. All went swimmingly until abbypony did what is called foundering. Long story short, it is a foot condition caused when the grass is too rich.
Abbypony is going to be fine, but is off pasture for the summer. She was lonely, so we talked to the vet and he suggested a companion animal.

So we found a goat on craigslist. He was 10 weeks old, weaned, etc. we got to the farm to pick him up to discover he had died the night before. We were able to avert total tragedy with the children through some quick thinking...we got a replacement.

The one bad news about the replacement is that he was three days old. That's right. We are now bottle feeding a baby goat.
Which is actually not so bad. Except for the fact that I've already got plenty of things to bottle feed.
And I really did think Eric was going to kill me when I brought him to the boulevard for an overnight this week.

Today was so warm that a little pumpkin got to play outside with the hose- what fun! I wish that I could make this picture as good as it is on the phone.

Easter Weekend 2012

WHEW!!!! What an Easter we had around here! Holy cow!

How much fun to have brothers and cousins. Here's a pic of MF at 9 months and Gil at 3 months. Gil has her by about a pound, but she's longer and obviously capable of a lot more things- this little lady will be walking any day now!!!
Here's a closeup of these two loves.
And all the cousins together- what a lucky family we are!

Vake took his job as Easter egg dyer very seriously. Please also note the Seahawks sweatsuit.

And of course, he got ready for Easter at preschool, complete with bunny ears!
And the egg hunting- oh the egg hunting! This was the first year that Vake was really grownup enough to appreciate it.
We actually had an awesome Easter because after church, we had a bunch of friends, both with and without children, over for an Easter egg hunt and a potluck brunch.
Delicious.

This was shortly after Vake was found inside the house alone by Uncle Dennis, eating as much candy as he could!

My lookalikes!

Trains!

About a month ago (!), Vake and I went to the train station after church to see the Amtrak exhibit.

He was so excited.
Talk about a little train lover's dream!

And what a treat for Mommy and Vake to get some time together, just the two of us!

Just for comparison's sake

You tell me which baby this is.

Gil: 3 months!

It is impossible for me to believe that little Gil is already three months old- he looks less and less like an identical twin of baby Vake to me now.

At three months, Gil
  • weighs about 18 pounds (maybe a little less, I didn't have an official three month weight, so this is the inaccurate measurement of my bathroom scale). I will report tomorrow how long he is.
  • is in a Size 3 diaper
  • Wears a combo of 6, 9 and 12 (!) month clothing
  • sleeps through the night and takes (usually) two good naps during the day
  • is honestly the easiest baby- even easier than Vake. He only cries if tired or hungry
  • is giving us the most delicious smiles
  • has made no real attempt to roll over
  • loves his exersaucer

I am so happy about my two darling boys. Vake's transition has, gradually, become a little rockier. I think he finally knows the baby is not going back but is here to stay. NOT his favorite. AT ALL.

Here are pics from Gil's three month shoot.

Black Tie!!!!

Vake, Eric and I went to a black tie party on Saturday night (gotta love Richmond, one of the last places in the world where people still regularly put on a tuxado). Look at how handsome everyone is!
