I need my privacy but I love mirrors

Vake loves to shut doors- almost every night when I give him a bath, he makes a very big deal of closing the bathroom door behind us. Obviously, at 14 months he has no concept of privacy, but closing the door is super fun.

A mirrored door presents a huge dilemma- of course, he wants to close the door but it is so tempting to study one's own image in the mirror on the door...

Our House is a Celebrity...

...wish we could say the same for the people living inside of it...

Big Boy but still a baby

My "baby" is now wearing 5t pajamas. It's truly ridiculous- he didn't have any short pajamas that really fit him so I bought new ones at Old Navy this weekend.
But as long as he sleeps with his fanny in the air, he's still a baby...

Giraffes!

Vake and I had a really nice weekend- I definitely didn't get as much done as I wanted but I did accomplish some big tasks- the biggest one being the mulching of the backyard and the second biggest being the straightening of my office/craft room (5 bags of trash!).

We went to Sunday School today- how fun are the giraffes?

House Tour Update

The house tour train is chugging into town.

This afternoon after work I:

  • mulched;
  • painted a patch on the ceiling;
  • painted the back porch (may turn out to have been a HUGE mistake, we'll see);
  • got rid of a stinky Diaper Dakor and replaced it with a like-new one from downstairs; and
  • bought annuals for the flower beds.

Aaah, the excitement.

Playground Buddies.

Doesn't this make you wonder what the two of them are saying to each other?

E's away this weekend- I am starting to get really geared up for the house tour...it is coming. T minus three weekends....

A Seattle baby after all.

Guess who loves the rain?

I called E on my way to work- he was in charge of dropoff with Taren today and he told me that Vake just stood outside and laughed and laughed at the rain. I do not even vaguely enjoy being wet.

Apparently the gene for rain loving is dominant.

Sweet Sleeper

I'll be the first to admit I am biased but have you ever seen a sweeter child?

Loyal Stilly

Boy's best friend? NO doubt.

Bathtime

Vake would cheerfully spend the day dans le bain. The current favorite add on is the foam letters- we probably spend 20 minutes throwing them in the bathtub and then putting them back in. Good times, good times.

14 Months!

I didn't realize we were at 14 months until I took a second look at the calendar today- so hard to believe...

Vake, at 14 months you:
  • weigh about 32 pounds and are (I think) approaching 34 inches;
  • wear anywhere between a 2t and a 4t in clothes and a size six diaper;
  • are officially a full-time walker (although you will crawl if you really need to get somewhere in a hurry);
  • love to clap;
  • are interested in things that make noise or are interactive (your pretend cell phone is a huge hit);
  • act as though you recognize both your father and your mother in pictures;
  • are babbling nonstop- if only we knew what you were trying to tell us;
  • think that shadows are very interesting;
  • like to play with both dogs;
  • love swim class and gymnastics class;
  • have become a super hugger;
  • can hold a milk cup by yourself;
  • likes to roll a ball and follow it; and
  • thinks balloons are the greatest things on earth.

We are hoping that this is the month you really decide to start talking to us- even though Grandmary says that she waited for me to start talking and I never stopped after that!

All Boy.

Despite all my attempts to introduce pink, ruffles and figure skating into my son's life, it is pretty indisputable that he's all boy. He loves trucks, tractors, things that go and balls.

We went out to see Aunt Andrea, Uncle Rob and Wills. Muschi told Vake that he could hop up and help drive the tractor. Someone didn't need to be asked twice.

And if that's not enough, see this little boy's expression when he ran across a football. It is DEFINITELY saying, please, Mom, just let me play organized sports that will inevitably lead to broken bones.

Fave book and WALKING!!!!

Vake's favorite book (far and away) is By the Light of the Silvery Moon. No old classics for this guy- give him some poorly rhymed couplets and a light up moon and he is happy as a clam... And have we mentioned that he is firmly in the land of walkers?

Oh the Farmer and the Cowman should be friends....

Suffice it to say that Taren spends a LOT of time at the Children's Museum...

Easter Sunday!

What a fun day we had! We started out by waking up, having breakfast and then V put on (with help from Mommy) his fancy schmancy white Easter suit.

After that, we went out to see where the Easter bunny had been. I had high expectations for Vake's enjoyment of the Easter egg hunt, but he could not have been less interested in it. At all.
But nevertheless, we gave it our best shot.

"Hmmm. I am not really sure what all the fuss is about, lady."

Ok, yes. I am not sure that I really like this whole egg scenario. But in happier news, I am walking now.

Grandmary, Aunt Anne and Mom all got in on the Easter Egg hunt act...

After church and lunch, V had a Peep. Now I LOVE Peeps. E cannot stand them. Little V was strangely fascinated- only time will tell...

Once nap time was over, we checked out Monument Avenue- porch parties and fun crowds- when E and I win the lottery, our Monument Avenue house HAS to have a big porch!!!!
