I knew it would. I drove off with my phone on top of the car. It fell off on the interstate. For awhile, I could see it on my find my iPhone app. Then it was gone. R.I.P. iPhone 4. May the wheels of the semi that ran over you take you to a better place.

The cakes are rolled
It worked! I think the hardest part of a buche is getting the cakes to roll. Now, they are sitting in tea towels on my counter. Whew!

Cakes and celebrations
Seven years ago (!) I was anxiously awaiting the results of the Virginia bar exam and my friend Andrea was anxiously awaiting wills' birth.
Now here we are, a little longer in the tooth. Wills has requested a log shaped cake this year! Wheeeee! Away we go!
Happened so fast. Too fast.

From one to the next...
....vake was unusually whiny and quiet this afternoon. I should have known we were in trouble when he curled up on the couch.
Next thing we knew, vomit everywhere.
Now, on the positive side of the ledger, all the kids are asleep and it is only 7:45.

Where we've been, lately
What a week! After the fun times at the Easter Egg Roll on money, we came home to a Gil who wasn't quite right. Turns out that he had a super nasty case of the rotavirus and by Wednesday, it was obvious to everyone what he was in bad shape.
I finally got him to the pediatrician and she told me it was a close call but that I should consider whether or not I wanted to take him to the emergency room. He was so obviously unhappy and in so much distress I am glad I did.
We arrived at the emergency room at good old st. Mary's just in time for the sickness to truly begin in earnest.
Poor little guy! They started an IV line and gave him fluids but he just wasn't holding anything down.
Two days later, it looks like we may get him back home today. Of course, Vake's had the same thing too now- the only difference is that Vske is older and stronger.

Scenes from the White House Easter Egg Roll
Eric has some pictures too- so he's going to need to upload his as well- and of course, I wound up taking some great ones on my iPhone, too.
The boys were really well behaved in the car, all things considering- we had definitely hyped the day as a very special and fun occasion.
When we arrived, there was plenty of running around that needed to be done- this is right near the old Hotel Washington that's now a W.
And of course, no morning would be complete without some spontaneous rasslin'.
Not surprisingly, the hardest part of the day was the waiting. We were in the 12:15 group and we were allowed to go into the line at 11:30. We got to the line about that time and there were already literally thousands of people lined up.
So the boys played in the dirt a fair amount. And rassled again. Obviously.
The views from the lines (and yes, there were multiple lines to get in) were pretty amazing.
What they had to offer once we got inside was worth it- here are the boys studying their maps.
And a less than totally perky picture right in front of the White House.
Eric sent his mom an email with his thoughts, but he and I agreed that while the line waiting was pretty vicious, we'd totally do it again- stand by for more pics!

No April fooling here
Eric, vake, huff and I had a tremendous day at the White House Easter Egg Roll, but the one huge takeaway from the day is that we don't know how Taren does it.
Now, granted, Taren's not taking four boys to the White House every day, but still, it took Eric and me being completely vigilant for the entire day to get everyone there and back in one piece. And that was just two boys. And Taren does that everyday.
And I think that the boys probably mind her better thn they did the both of us!
