Cozy Coupe

Stopped at my favorite thrift store yesterday. For the bargain price of 6.98, Vake is now the proud owned of a Cozy Coupe. I have always loved this toy- and now, much to Eric's delight, we have one in our living room!

Busy Busy Bee

So I've gotten some constructive criticism that the blog always shows Vake dressed in pajamas. And apparently, Vake's blog audience needs more action shots of my busy little bee.

So today, Supertaren (aka Tarenitup) took care of my problem by snapping some action shots. Here's Vake with his current favorite toy. One thing that should be exciting to those tracking developmental milestones (and really, who's not?) is that he now is really good at moving the toy from one hand to another.

Hi there, fans. I am single and like to mingle.

This next toy is probably his second favorite and also the leading candidate for "most likely to drive Mommy and Taren out of their ever-lovin' minds. It is an interactive book! Yikes.

Here he is trying to open it for his buddy Huff.

Now when he likes something or is interested in it, he expresses that interest by shrieking. It is truly hilarious.

I will own you, book!

What do you people mean I can't taste this?

Eric was working in his office this morning, so I brought the backup exersaucer (words that I never thought I would say...) upstairs to Eric's office so they could have some quality time together before Eric takes off for Seattle tomorrow. This exersaucer has a plastic sphere that is partially filled with some water in it. A duck floats in this water. Vake has decided that this is pretty cool: it is probably his favorite part of this exersaucer.

Today he was cracking me up because he has reached the stage where he wants to try to put toys in his mouth and he couldn't figure out how to get the duck.

Happy Fivemonthiversary, Vake!

Happy Five Months, Vake!

Vake is getting so big so fast! At five months, he weighs about 22 pounds and is about 27 inches long. He can sit up by himself if you help him get to the sitting position and if he can rest on his hands. He loves to stand up with assistance. His favorite toy currently is the exersaucer and the Lamaze butterfly is a close second.

Vake is the happiest baby I've ever known. He loves to give smiles away for free. He seems to be recognizing the people that he sees the most often and he is in love with his nanny, Taren. She had Friday off, and when she walked in the door to babysit on Saturday, you would have thought it was Christmas morning based on the smile on little V' s face.

He's getting more curious about the world around him. He is enjoying toys more and more and is starting to take an interest in the dogs.

This is the last month before he starts solid foods- that's going to be an adventure!

Mommy's Little Alligator

This is one of my favorite outfits for little V. Mom and I got it at the Animal Crackers half off sale. It is hard to believe that I DON'T have a ton of clothes stocked up for fall but Vake is so big that most of what I thought he would wear between September and December he actually wore between April and May. I do think that this is super cute- sorry the picture isn't very good.

Vake's making big strides: he's getting interested in toys and really working on holding things that he likes in his little hands. My new obsession is (don't laugh) the Martha Stewart craft line at Walmart, so today while I was there I picked up this toy. It is a little glowworm/butterfly that makes different noises when you move it. Vake thinks it is possibly the coolest thing in the universe right now.

I've got a long post about the change in the bedtime ritual but the pics I took are currently stuck on E's camera, which is out of juice. I'll try to post them before we go to Shrinemont for the bluegrass festival tomorrow.
