As most of you know, little Gil needs glasses. He's very very farsighted. We knew that he would get a prescription for them if he did not show vast improvement.
As strange as it sounds, I spent a lot of time researching the frames. The consensus from the group of parents who have kids wearing glasses is you want hingeless for the little ones. There are two companies who make them and I picked the solo bambinis- I just think they are better looking than the ones made by Miraflex.
So the solo bambini frames do not have a distributor in Richmond- the nearest is in Charlottesville. After doing more research, I ordered the frames from the distributor in California with the notion that I was going to get the lenses put in in Richmond. That turned out to be easier said than done, but miraculously, Walmart Optical was willing to fit the lenses- and for literally one fourth the cost of a private optician, which is pretty remarkable considering that you've typically got to update the prescription with frequency.
We introduced the glasses to Gil tonight. To say that he hates them would be the understatement of the century.
